Providing new jobs for South Worcestershire

Economic growth

Creating a stronger, more resilient local economy

The South Worcestershire Development Plan Review (SWDPR) identifies a critical need for new employment space to support economic prosperity and create sustainable communities in the area up to 2041.

Our proposals will help to meet this need by delivering new jobs and providing better career prospects for local people, ensuring the area has a strong, competitive economy.

Crucially, this site helps provide jobs for the growing community. By delivering jobs alongside new homes, we are contributing to a healthier community by reducing the need to travel. Residents will have a chance to work closer to home, cutting down on pollution and traffic.

High-quality jobs

New careers and skills for the community

Our plans have the potential to deliver a significant number of new, high-quality jobs that reflect the modern logistics industry and offer genuine career paths for local people.

Modern logistics hubs are complex operations, providing roles that span the entire business structure. These include high-tech positions in areas like software and automation engineering, alongside essential roles in management, finance, logistics planning, and site supervision. Our plans will support the local economy by providing a full spectrum of employment opportunities, meeting a range of needs.

Did you know?

Storage and distribution (often called Logistics or Supply Chain) is a modern, high-tech sector that offers significant career opportunities. Research from Prologis found that:

  • Higher Pay: Employees in logistics and supply chain roles are earning above the UK’s median average salary. This means better pay and financial stability.
  • Highly Educated: Over 30% of employees working in this sector hold a university degree. This shows the need for advanced skills like data analysis and IT in modern warehouses.
  • Stable Lives: Approximately 60% of employees in logistics are homeowners, highlighting the long-term career stability and financial benefits of the industry.
