The wider context

Wychavon Town is a proposed new town to the south east of Worcester, designed to be a dynamic, prosperous and well-connected community. The town is identified as a suitable site for development in the South Worcestershire Development Plan and by 2060 it’s expected to be a fully functioning, low carbon town with around 24,000 residents.

Centred around Worcestershire Parkway railway station, the town will offer local services, a range of job opportunities and homes for all. It will be carefully planned to support everyday life, attract businesses, and foster a thriving local economy.

Hallam Land is a land promoter working collaboratively with the landowners involved in bringing forward Wychavon Town. Our parcel of land is known as ‘Harkaway’. Following an initial consultation exercise with the community in 2023, we are now looking to progress with an application for employment uses.

The wider Harkaway site will deliver new homes, a primary school, and community spaces. We are planning to progress with planning applications for the wider site in the future.

The site

Harkaway sits just south of the Spetchley Estate, near Junction 7 of the M5. It is a well-connected site, being located approximately 1km from Worcestershire Parkway railway station and benefitting from proximity to both major and minor roads.

At the heart of the plans is a commitment to active travel, with new walking and cycling routes designed to make everyday journeys easier and greener. These include direct links between the new town and the eastern edge of Worcester, helping people stay connected and reducing the reliance on cars.

This consultation is in relation to the employment land identified on the site plan below in red. The wider land area (edged in blue) will come forward at a later date and does not form part of this application.
